Several processes interact
Genetic susceptibility, immunity, oxidative stress and local factors act together. Routine hormone testing without symptoms or a specific suspicion is not automatically useful.
Include the young person
Treatment goals, camouflage and disclosure should be decided with the adolescent. School and social-media pressures deserve attention.
