What to observe
Record the date, site and size, whether additional patches appear and whether there was inflammation or injury beforehand. Use similar lighting for photographs.
When to arrange an examination
Rapid spread, several new areas, involvement around body openings or uncertainty about scaling and inflammation are reasons for timely dermatological review.
