Patches commonly affect the chest, back, shoulders or upper arms and may have fine, bran-like scaling. Contrast can increase after sun exposure.
Confirming the cause
Microscopy or another mycological test can identify yeast. Wood’s light and the clinical pattern support the distinction from smooth, fully depigmented vitiligo.
