Planning safely

Vitiligo during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy does not require automatic treatment of vitiligo, but every medicine, cream, light treatment and supplement should be reviewed in advance.

In brief

Key points

  • Review all products
  • Do not stop prescribed care alone
  • Sun protection remains useful
  • Course is unpredictable
01

Plan before treatment

Tell the treating team about pregnancy planning, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Safety differs between active ingredients, body areas and exposure levels.

02

Care and supplements

Gentle care and sun protection can continue when suitable. A food supplement is not automatically appropriate in pregnancy; composition and dose require review.
