Cellular balance

Oxidative stress in vitiligo

Oxidative stress describes an imbalance between reactive molecules and the cell’s protective systems. It is one part of current vitiligo models.

In het kort

Belangrijkste punten

  • Cellular imbalance
  • Melanocytes can be vulnerable
  • Interacts with immunity
  • Not solved by one supplement
01

Why melanocytes may be affected

Pigment production itself creates reactive intermediates. Genetic and environmental factors can reduce cellular resilience and amplify inflammatory signalling.

02

What this does not prove

The biological role of oxidative stress does not mean that high-dose antioxidants treat vitiligo. Supplements require evidence, safe dosing and appropriate indications.
